A Panel Discussion on Immigration in East Tennessee
The Spanish Club and the Latin American Student Organization (LASO) will host “A Panel Discussion on Immigration in East Tennessee” to aid in creating meaningful discussion surrounding immigrants in our community, especially conversations that highlight immigrants as strong, dynamic, and contributing members of our society who have been structurally disadvantaged. By bringing together five panelists from local organizations and our academic community at UT the event will engage students by addressing issues surrounding young immigrants such as unaccompanied minors and DREAMers and how their experiences differ from those of many UT students. The event will include brief introductions followed by a question and answer portion.
The Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program will host a post-event reception immediately following the panel in which students may continue the discussion with our guests. This will provide an invaluable time for one-on-one conversation.
