Advances in transportation electrification and digitization promise to revolutionize the future of mobility at a scale that will transform the movement of people and goods all over the world. Tennessee aims to become the No. 1 state in the country for the electrification (electric vehicles) supply chain. The state is already on its way to meeting this goal with four automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) producing EVs and with successfully attracting almost $12B in capital investment in EV projects since 2017.

Kevin Heaslip became the director of UT’s Center for Transportation Research (CTR) in the summer of 2022. On December 1, he will discuss how CTR’s future research will play a role in those advancements – research that will revolutionize the future of mobility in not only Tennessee but the world.

As well as director of CTR, Heaslip is a professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UT. He has been awarded more than $25 million in research grants and contracts from federal government agencies, state governments and industry as an expert in transportation engineering, transportation technology and critical infrastructure cybersecurity.
