Adventures in Investigating Mars Using Places on Earth
Anna Szynkiewicz, associate professor in the UT Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, will present “Adventures in Investigating Mars Using Places on Earth,” Friday, February 26 via Zoom.
Major discoveries of past water activity on Mars coincided with the beginning of Professor Szynkiewicz’s career as a planetary geologist. In her presentation, she will show how researching of sulfur minerals and exotic places on Earth have become a lifetime adventure for investigating water history on Mars. She will use two case studies from Antarctica and New Mexico that give clues about past water activity in the North Polar region of Mars.
