http://downtown.utk.eduJorge Lucero is a Mexican-American artist who currently serves as Associate Professor of Art Education in the School of Art + Design at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Sometimes he serves as the Chair of that program. Lucero received his Master degree and PhD from The Pennsylvania State University and his undergraduate degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Prior to moving into higher education Lucero happily taught art and art history at the Chicago Public School, Northside College Prep.
His installation, THEJORGELUCEROSTUDYCOLLECTION will be on display at the UT Downtown Gallery from October 27 - December 7, 2023.
THEJORGELUCEROSTUDYCOLLECTION is primarily a repository for books, journals, and videos on Conceptual Art, performance art, art of the global south, the art of Chicago, collage, art education, curriculum theory, critical pedagogy, critical theory, religion, and philosophy. The STUDYCOLLECTION is non-circulating. It is the primary mission of the STUDYCOLLECTION to be a forum for conviviality, especially over these unique items within this particular place and time.
