The amount of instruction that we received from instructors was great! I was very confident in the instructors’ abilities and felt like I was taught the kayaking basics well enough to succeed on the river.
Description
When our newest whitewater instructor was learning to whitewater kayak, she was terrified that she couldn’t get out of the kayak when it flipped or that she couldn’t move the kayak how she wanted. She was excited to see her first trip down the river end.
A few weeks later, she joined a more mellow trip to practice in swift water, but not scary whitewater. That mellow trip made kayaking whitewater fun because she was able to practice swimming out of an upside-down kayak and try harder kayak moves knowing she didn’t actually have to make the move.
This trip will change your paddling, just as it did for our instructor when she was learning.
If you’ve never paddled outside, we’ll teach you how to comfortably move around the river and have fun while doing it. By the time the trip ends, you’ll be comfortable on the water and look good paddling.
You’ll definitely have some awesome photos to share.
Experience
If you’ve been paddling class I-II but are nervous about stepping it up, we’ll help you get perfect eddy catches, ferries and peel outs so that you can comfortably paddle class II/III.
Must know how to swim. Some experience required kayaking (like the free kayak pool clinics, held weekly).
Stop by a kayak pool session (free) to get a sense of what this trip is like.
This trip is for you if you:
have rafted before and think kayaking looks fun but want an easy river to try first.
have only seen whitewater kayaking on tv and think it looks fun.
had a less than good experience with a friend and want someone who will actually teach you
This trip is not for you if:
Feel comfortable with class III or harder whitewater.
If you cannot swim.
