The EECS Brown Bag Series, exclusively tailored for faculty and graduate students within the EECS department, takes place on the last Friday of every month during the fall and spring semesters. For April’s Brown Bag, the department will be providing pizza. Water and coffee will be provided as well. Join us and engage with our guest speakers, who will shed light on campus resources, new initiatives, and valuable information, fostering research collaborations, networking, and other opportunities among our faculty and students.

Research Security – Export Controls

 

Abstract:

 

A discussion on what Export ControI (EC) terms and language PIs/researchers should look for in sponsor proposal, grant, and agreement documents and the potential EC measures that language could bring to a project.

 

Biography:

 

Chris Godfrey has been the Export Control Officer in the Office of Research, Innovation and Economic Development (ORIED), Division of Research Integrity and Assurance (DRIA) since 2021. Prior to joining the University, he served in the US Navy and worked in the maritime industry with CMA CGM, leading the US Supply Chain Safety, Security, Environmental, and Dangerous Goods Compliance Programs. He is a Knoxville native and a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
