Moving Innovations to the Marketplace: The Tech Transfer Process at UT

Abstract

This Lunch and Learn session will focus on three main areas:

• The technology transfer process at UT and the services UTRF provides
• The basics of intellectual property commercialization for various innovation types
• Funding opportunities at UTRF for technology maturation and spinouts based on UTRF technologies

Biography

Gregory Sechrist, Technology Manager at the UT Research Foundation, focuses on the commercialization of technologies developed from inventors from the College of Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville; the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga; and the University of Tennessee Space Institute. Prior to joining UTRF, Gregory worked as a Licensing Associate at the University of Mississippi and as an engineer in the automotive supplier manufacturing industry. Gregory has a BS in mechanical engineering from Clemson University and a JD from the University of Mississippi.
