Brown Bag: Successful Online Group Work; Teaching is Repetition

This brown bag covers two topics. First Dr. Sally Harris shares some of what she's learned over the years about facilitating online group work and supporting collaboration in Zoom through the use of contracts. Second, Dr. Daniel Wallace presents Teaching is Repetition: Using Recursive Tech Tools to Help Students Better Understand the Reading. In this session, Dr. Wallace explains how he uses technology to teach reading as a process and as a skill, demonstrating how to 'layer' small prompts and reflective assignments in Canvas, as well as using conversational-style quizzes and forms. By the end of this session, participants will be able to create their own interactive reading quiz during the session, one that they will be able to deploy in their own teaching as soon as the session ends.
