Structural and Surface Insights of Microemulsions for Advanced Energy Systems

Abstract:
Microemulsions, with their complex and tunable structural properties, are being studied in the development of advanced energy systems. This presentation investigates the bulk structures of microemulsions through Small-Angle Neutron Scattering (SANS), revealing insights into their unique nanoscale organization and dynamics. Complementary studies on the ordering of microemulsions at hydrophilic and amphiphilic surfaces using neutron reflectivity further elucidate how microemulsions behave and interact at interfaces, a factor critical for optimizing performance in various applications. Finally, the application of these structurally versatile microemulsions within supercapacitor systems is explored, emphasizing their potential to improve energy storage efficiency. By integrating structural and surface-level understanding, this research highlights microemulsions' versatility and application potential in energy technologies, underscoring their importance in next-generation energy storage solutions.
