CERCLA Cleanup on the Oak Ridge Reservation: A Legacy of Remediation and Restoration

Abstract

Established as an integral component of the Manhattan Project during World War II, the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge Reservation (ORR) has a rich history of operations and research in support of the nation’s energy and nuclear security.  The environmental impacts of those legacy activities requires environmental cleanup to protect human health and the environment at each of the three sites on the ORR, the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Y-12 National Security Complex, and East Tennessee Technology Park.  This presentation will provide an overview of completed and ongoing remedial actions and associated long term monitoring and reporting.
