The Denbo Center for Humanities & the Arts invites arts and humanities faculty to join Director Amy Elias for a (free) 3-day Writing Challenge!

• When: June 24-26, 9am -1:30pm
• Where: Denbo Center for Humanities & the Arts

 
We will meet daily at the Denbo Center from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm to work on our writing together --at a time in the summer when we are all starting to panic because summer is passing so quickly and perhaps when we are getting lonely and bored with our writing routines. 
 
The Denbo Center will provide the following: secure storage at the Center for books and materials you need for your writing for the 3 days; an optional 15-minute guided video meditation in our seminar rooms to start each day (bring your mat); coffee breaks and snacks; lunch each day from 12:00-12:30 for Challenge registrants; free parking. We also have supplementary materials for you about how to order your work calendar and what the "pomodoro method" of writing could do for you. We do not offer individual workspaces. Faculty can write together in our KitchenCafe with background music, or in our quiet library/reading room, conference room, or seminar room.  

Registrants must supply their own laptops and any equipment they need for the writing sessions. No zoom meetings are allowed during Challenge hours. 
 
This challenge is for arts and humanities faculty only. Faculty of any rank or type of appointment are welcome. We can accommodate 15-20 people comfortably: registrants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Registrants selected must commit to attending all 3 days of the challenge. 
 
Schedule:  
9-9:15: Getting our heads right with a mindfulness moment (optional) 

9:30-10:30: Writing 
10:30-10:45: Break  
11-12:00: Writing 
12-12:30: lunch  
12:30-1:30 Optional Writing: Plan your next day’s writing 

The Denbo Center will be open until 4pm for WriteOnSite, and registrants are also welcome to stay after 1:30 pm for as long as they wish.
