DEI Awareness for the Workforce: Writing Your Diversity Statement

Increasingly, positions in higher education and industry require applicants to submit a diversity statement as part of their materials. The goal of this panel is to discuss what a diversity statement is, its purposes, and what an effective statement should include. Participants will reflect on the value of diversity, equity, and inclusion in their life; how their research, teaching & mentoring, and service experiences demonstrate their commitment to these values; and how they might contribute to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the school, organization, or company they join.

This session is part of the DEI Awareness for the Workforce Series organized by the Graduate and Professional Student Professional Development initiative (GPSPD). Visit tiny.utk.edu/dei-awareness to register for the series to get Canvas and Zoom access for the series.
