CGE is sponsoring an event in collaboration with the Global Studies Club, UT Model United Nations, the International Business Club, and the Political Science Department's International Affairs Concentration.

Lou Fintor, the diplomat in residence who covers the state of Tennessee, and Beau Fancher, a former diplomat who returned home to Knoxville, will discuss how their lives and friendships have been shaped by representing the United States abroad. Their message will encourage UT students to apply for the diplomatic corps and find other avenues to support US diplomatic efforts around the world.

Lou Fintor has spent more than two decades serving as a US Embassy spokesperson at postings across the Middle East, South Asia, and Europe. He currently serves as the Diplomat in Residence for the North Central region of the United States (which includes Tennessee) from his base at the University of Michigan's Ford School of Public Policy.

Beau Fancher was born and raised in Knoxville and attended graduate school at the University of Tennessee. In addition to serving as a diplomat with the US State Department in Washington, DC, Iraq, and Vancouver, he previously served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Tennessee and now works in finance.
