Cross-Institutional Research Engagement Network (CIREN)

Abstract:

The Cross-Institutional Research Engagement Network (CIREN) is a collaborative effort between the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and Arizona State University to train cyberinfrastructure (CI) facilitators in the areas of high-performance computing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. CIREN aims to fill critical gaps in the development and retention of CI facilitators by providing training, mentorship, and research engagement opportunities. The program offers a lowered barrier to entry for novice facilitators and opportunities for experienced facilitators to mentor their peers and increase their engagement in research. Building upon the success of prior programs at UT, CIREN provides an opportunity to advance research programs by the incorporation of new capabilities.
