About this Event
A virtual seminar with Erika Gavenus, PhD
Erika Gavenus is an interdisciplinary researcher with a deep love for fish, fishing, and the people who fish. She works with coastal communities to better understand the challenges facing their food systems, the opportunities for their renewal, and the potential implications of both for well-being. Erika's doctoral research was motivated by concerns voiced by First Nations along the coast of British Columbia, that they are not able to access the fish they need to care for their communities, and by their ongoing efforts to reassert Indigenous fisheries governance in response.
This event is part of a seminar series presented by the UT One Health Initiative which explores global health challenges and how solutions may be achieved with a One Health approach. Join us via Zoom the last Thursday of the month from 12-1pm Eastern. More info at onehealth.tennessee.edu/seminars.
