Bio

Alain Giorla, PhD is a Research Staff member in the Fusion and Materials for Nuclear Systems Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He obtained his PhD at EPFL, Switzerland, on the modeling of Alkali-Silica Reaction in concrete, then joined ORNL as a post-doctoral associate in 2014. His current activities focus on the development of models and numerical tools for the simulation of neutron irradiation in concrete and other degradation phenomena, both at the mesoscale and the structural scale.
