Pianist/composer Amy Williams will perform John Cage’s masterwork for prepared piano: The Sonatas and Interludes (1946-48). Last just over one hour, there are dozens of objects (screws, bolts, erasers, pieces of rubber and plastic) that are inserted into the strings of the piano to create sounds that are reminiscent of percussion instruments from around the world.
