Guest Speaker for HackUTK talk: pwnd: a Star Wars Story (or how not to get hacked irl)
HackUTK, UTK's premier cybersecurity club will be hosting Chris Lord on Tuesday, November 19th, 5:30 PM in Min Kao room 404. He will be talking about common cybersecurity attacks such as social engineering, password cracking, side-channel leakage, browser exploits and supply chain attacks as well as what you can do to keep you and your organization safe.
Bio:
Chris Lord is CTO and Co-Founder of Armored Things, which is transforming security and operations with a spatial intelligence platform that provides a common operating picture of people and flow in a facility, stadium or campus.
He was previously Head of R&D and Chief Architect at Carbon Black, which pioneered new approaches to cybersecurity; and is the founder of Latch Mobile, a cybersecurity company that protects children from risks online.
Chris has been active in the field of cybersecurity since 2000 when he worked on survivable systems and critical infrastructure assurance as a research assistant at US-CERT. He is passionate about decentralized and emergent systems, and has had the good fortune to work with many great teams building cool technology around large scale distributed systems. He earned a Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Fitchburg State University."
