Home Sweet Home: Haunted Knoxville with Laura Still
Presented by Pilot, join East Tennessee native and Knoxville Walking Tour guide Laura Still for a spooky adventure like no other! Laura will share how she got into hunting for historic ghosts and tell us what she looks for when researching a ghost story. Listen closely toward the end as Laura lets us know where some of the most likely places for ghosts would be on our very own campus!
Laura, a native of East Tennessee, is a published poet and playwright as well as storyteller and guide. She began offering two tours in 2012 and now has researched and written 13 guides, including three ghost walks. She is partnered with the Knoxville History Project (KHP), and proceeds from her tours support KHP, Old Gray Cemetery, and the Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum.
In 2016, she became co-owner of Celtic Cat Publishing, which published her poetry collection, Guardians in 2009. Her book of children’s plays, Acts of the Apostles, Vol. 1, followed in 2010. Her third book, A Haunted History of Knoxville, was published in 2014 and continues to be a local bestseller. Laura’s newest tour, Misbehaving Women, highlights the Knoxville suffragists and other women who worked for gender equality and explains their battle to pass the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote in 1920.
