Home Sweet Home with Amanda Beasley ('19)

Meet Amanda Beasley (BA’19), Museum Professional and Artist. Amanda learned to stitch from her great-grandmother. She has been using her expertise to create embroidery patterns based on the McClung Museum of Natural History & Culture’s collections and shared through the museum’s Facebook and Instagram accounts as the #StitchTogether project. Presented by Graphic Creations, join us for an introductory Facebook live lesson accessible for all ages.

Materials needed to participate:
Any needle, thread, and fabric or clothing to practice stitching

To practice embroidering more:

  • An embroidery hoop: 6 inch or 10 inch diameter is best when starting out. 6 inch diameter is best for children
  • A pack of embroidery floss in basic colors
  • A variety pack of embroidery needles
  • Fabric with a looser weave is best when starting out
  • A pen or fabric marker to draw your design
