DESCRIPTION:The McClung Student Advisory Board is pleased to present a lect
 ure by Henry Skerritt\, the curator of the Indigenous Arts of Australia at
  the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection of the University of Virginia.\n
 \nSkerritt's lecture will complement the exhibition\, "Shane Pickett: Djin
 ong Djina Boodja (Look at the Land that I Have Traveled)"\, which is on vi
 ew at the McClung Musuem from January 14 through May 7. His lecture is co-
 sponsored by the UT Department of Anthropology and Department of Geography
 .\n\nHenry Skerritt has curated numerous exhibitions including No Boundari
 es: Contemporary Aboriginal Australian Abstract Painting (2015)\; Marking 
 the Infinite: Contemporary Women Artists from Aboriginal Australia (2016) 
 and The Inside World: Contemporary Aboriginal Australian Memorial Poles (2
 019) and was editor of the accompanying catalogs all of which were publish
 ed by DelMonico Books/Prestel.\n\nSkerritt holds a PhD in art history from
  the University of Pittsburgh and a Masters of Art Curatorship from the Un
 iversity of Melbourne. He is currently working on a major touring exhibiti
 on that surveys eight decades of bark painting from northern Australia cur
 ated collaboratively with the Yolngu community at Yirrkala.\n\nThe touring
  exhibition\, "Shane Pickett: Djinong Djina Boodja (Look at the Land that 
 I Have Traveled)\," is a partnership between the Mossenson Art Foundation\
 , the Embassy of Australia in Washington DC\, and the Kluge-Ruhe Aborigina
 l Art Collection of the University of Virginia.
