Lunch and Learn: Reflecting on our Foundations — Native Stories and Voices

In this unique moment of national reckoning on racial injustice, we should expand the conversation to encompass Native Americans. The UT Libraries’ Diversity Committee and the Native American Student Association have convened a panel who can lend authoritative voices to that dialog. All panelists have Indigenous ancestry; most are members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

Join moderator Dr. Jerry Roberson and panelists Heather Hall, Joseph Owle, Robin Reed, and Dr. Natalie Welch to discuss the complex but necessary work of addressing deep historical injustices inflicted on Native Americans.

The panel was great. The questions were wonderful. The historical factor was even better. This was a great community of people who came out of this session with a better understanding of our natives historical factors and issues with how they are incorporated into society. We celebrated their triumphs and all the great knowledge they offered to us.
