As patriarchal power dynamics are questioned, conventional signifiers of masculinity begin to break down. How can we navigate masculine identity without relying on gendered hierarchies, power imbalances, and toxic behavioral patterns that ultimately harm both the self and others? MASC, featuring the work of Chattanooga-based artists Ren Collins, Jules Jackson, Will Sutton, and Nico Wilcher, invites the featured artists to explore their own perceptions of masculinity, emphasizing queer perspectives.
The opening reception will be held at Gallery 1010 on Thursday, May 19, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The exhibition will be on view by appointment Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22.
Please contact Jules Jackson (firstname.lastname@example.org) to schedule an appointment.
