Title: Minimal surfaces and the Bernstein Problem

Abstract: Minimal surfaces are mathematical idealizations of soap films. The study of minimal surfaces started in the times of Euler and Lagrange and is still an active area of research to this date. I will introduce the subject through two central problems in the study, namely Plateau's problem and the Bernstein problem. Through these, we will see the connections between minimal surfaces and various areas of mathematics.
