Title: Modeling microbial predator-prey interactions: From laboratory to global ocean

Abstract: Microbial communities provide energy to ocean food-webs and regulate global elemental cycles but are sparsely sampled in space and time. In my talk, I will introduce the use of mathematical models, constrained with laboratory experimental data, to simulate relationships between microbial predators and prey in the global ocean. I will end by discussing steps to include more realistic representations of microbial diversity in models of ocean ecosystems.
