DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Prof. David Talmy\, UT Microbiology\n\nTitle: Modeling
microbial predator-prey interactions: From laboratory to global ocean \n\
nAbstract: Microbial communities provide energy to ocean food-webs and reg
ulate global elemental cycles but are sparsely sampled in space and time.
In my talk\, I will introduce the use of mathematical models\, constrained
with laboratory experimental data\, to simulate relationships between mic
robial predators and prey in the global ocean. I will end by discussing st
eps to include more realistic representations of microbial diversity in mo
 dels of ocean ecosystems.
