Get ready for Media Literacy Week 2025 at Hodges Library—a weeklong series of fun, interactive events designed to sharpen your media savvy and spark your creativity! MLW 2025 at Hodges Library offers daily opportunities for students, faculty, and the wider Volunteer community to explore media, technology, and digital creativity through hands-on experiences and interactive activities.

ll Week, October 27th-31st — Explore curated displays across Hodges Library featuring books, films, and digital tools that support stronger media literacy skills.
 

Monday, October 27th — Join us for “Bite for Byte,”  at 12-1PM  for a presentation unpacking AI’s role in everyday media, from content creation to misinformation. Enjoy lunch and other refreshments on us in room 128 in Hodges.  Zoom Option available, bring your laptop if you can. Register here.

Tuesday, October 28th — Get creative in the Makerspace with a workshop on designing and producing your own meme-inspired buttons. Or make a Spooky Halloween card using Public Domain images for friends. Or Step into a media-themed green screen photo booth for a chance to pose with dynamic, newsworthy backdrops. 
 

Wednesday, October 29th —Join us for  “Clickbait or Cupcake,” an engaging tabling event that challenges participants to spot misleading headlines while earning sweet rewards. Join us from noon to 2PM for VOL themed cupcakes and quick literacy tests! 

Thursday, October 30th — Engage with the library through social media challenges that test your ability to decode, share, and reflect on media content. Show us media literacy in everyday action!
 

Friday, October31st — Test yourself throughout the week with a static display highlighting “Fake News Tests” that tie headlines to the emotions audiences attach to them.
