MSA Fastathon 2019

Please join the Muslim Student Association in celebrating our annual Fastathon event as the conclusion to Islamic Awareness Week! Fastathon was founded at UT in 2001 and has been a tradition on campus ever since. We encourage all participants to partake in and learn about the Islamic ritual of fasting on the day of 11/14, and we celebrate by holding an iftar (breaking of the fast) with all those who fasted throughout the day.

In addition to spreading awareness of fasting, we also introduce the theme of charity which is also paramount to Islam. As such, we have partnered with Save the Children this year to raise funds to feed orphans in Syria. All proceeds earned during Fastathon and Islamic Awareness Week will be donated directly to Save the Children and will help feed those who are less fortunate. We will be raising funds by selling baklava from 11/11 to 11/14 on Ped Walkway and will also be taking pledges. Please contribute in any way you can and fast in solidarity with the children of Syria!
