Abstract

A discussion about the existing safety culture framework at UTK, and how that framework is made real in the Nuclear Engineering Department. 

Biography

Michael Ratliff, CHP works at the intersection of nuclear engineering and radiation safety, helping ensure that complex research environments remain safe, compliant, and efficient. At UTK, he supports everything from lab operations and radiological surveys to training systems and experimental programs. He’s also involved in teaching and mentoring students, bringing real-world safety practices into the classroom. As a certified health physicist, Michael is focused on building strong safety culture and improving how nuclear engineering labs operate day to day.
