The pump acceptance bandwidth of the collision pairs can be as broad as 5 nm, making exciplex-pumped alkali-vapor lasers (XPALs) attractive candidates for the conversion of multiple high-power laser diode array outputs into a single, low divergence beam. Quantum efficiencies exceeding 98% have been measured.
