Nuclear Engineering Colloquium: Bob Borrelli

"Nuclear Engineering Research Pathways at the University of Idaho - Idaho Falls"

Bob Borrelli is currently tenure track faculty in the nuclear engineering program at the University of Idaho, in Idaho Falls. This eclectic presentation will feature a variety of topics for a wide nuclear engineering audience. He will start with a short summary of present his past research at UC-Berkeley in nuclear waste management. Then, he will discuss some of his activities and student research going on in the program at Idaho Falls. The main part of the talk will feature three of his research pathways; 1 - safeguards-by-design of nuclear materials handling facilities, 2 - cybersecurity of nuclear installations, and 3 - his used fuel cask design project funded by the Idaho Department of Commerce in partnership with Sakae Casting, a manufacturing company based in Japan.
