Have you heard of the Obed Wild and Scenic River and want to explore it further? Have you ever wondered what it takes to build a hiking trail? Come be a part of the process and spend the afternoon exploring however you choose! For the first time, we will  be running a shuttle to the Obed for a trail day hosted by the East Tennessee Climbers Coalition (ETCC) and the National Parks Service (NPS).

Join a group of dedicated outdoor enthusiasts working to maintain the trail system at the Obed through various projects including cutting trail, trash removal, light rock work such as building small sets of stairs, and more! We will meet at the Outdoors Center in TRECS and ride to the Obed together. Trail work will take place from 11:00am est. until early afternoon (between 1:00pm and 2:00pm est.).

After trail work, you will have hours to explore the Obed in whatever capacity you choose. Check out scenic hiking areas such as the Point Trail and the Lilly Bluff Trail, with formations such as Arch Rock and views of the convergance of the Obed River and Clear Creek; go for a swim; or get some climbing in! There are plenty of activities available for everyone at the Obed. In the evening the ETCC will be providing dinner for those that participate in trailwork.

Some important things to know:
Bring water, and plenty of it. There are places to refill waterbottles if needed, but no place to purchase water bottles.
Trail work requires CLOSED TOED SHOES and PANTS that go down to the ankle. It may be wise to bring a shirt with long sleeves depending on the work you will be doing.
Bring a change of clothes or swim trunks if you plan on going for a swim.
Bring bug spray/sunscreen as needed for yourself.
