Open Sandbox Workshop Series

Join us in Hodges Library for our monthly workshops on digital scholarship tools and resources. Everyone is invited and no prior experience is required to participate.

Our third session is on March 29th and will be led by Joshua Ortiz Baco, Digital Scholarship Librarian of the Scholars' Collaborative in Hodges Library.

Making and Hosting your Website with Jekyll and GitHub

Are you thinking of starting a blog, digital project, or portfolio? Or, do you already have a site but are curious about more customizable, free, and open source alternatives? In this workshop you will learn how to start building, styling, and hosting your website for free with Jekyll, a popular website generator, and GitHub Pages, a free hosting service. After the tutorial you will be able to:

  • Quickly publish, update, and save your content online.
  • Create pages and content in Markdown.
  • Customize the look and feel with HTML and CSS.

Note: Participants need to create a GitHub account before the session.
