Krebs, the Executive Director of the Modern Language Association, the largest scholarly organization in the humanities, with 20,000 members from more than 100 countries. Her role includes national advocacy work for the humanities and humanities education, and she is currently the president of the National Humanities Alliance.
Krebs will give a public talk on "Who Needs Humanities Expertise?" on October 3 at 4:00 PM in Hodges Library's Lindsay Young Auditorium. A reception will follow in the Library's Galleria.
Krebs has administered grants on increasing diversity in doctoral programs in English, preparing doctoral students to teach at access-oriented institutions, creating pathways for humanities students from recruitment through career readiness, and other aspects of language and literature education and research. She has written on higher education and humanities issues for the Chronicle of Higher Education, Inside Higher Ed, CNN, the Washington Post, Slate, and many other publications. She taught English and chaired her department at Wheaton College and served as dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Bridgewater State University.
