#UTKLibrariesAre you interested in learning more about the unique experiences of members of the LGBTQIA+ community in Appalachia? Would you like the opportunity to engage in conversation with your peers about these experiences?
UT Libraries and the UT Psychological Clinic cordially invite all interested attendees to the 2024 iteration of the Queer Conversations series: Queer Conversations on Appalachia. Please join us on Wednesday, October 23, from 6:00-7:30pm either online or in-person for this fantastic, free event. Students, staff/faculty, and community members are all welcome to attend.
Queer Conversations provides a safe and welcoming environment to foster open, respectful communication between UT students, faculty, staff, community members, and panelists whose identities span across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, as well as allies. This year, we are joined by panelists who will share their experiences as members of the LGBTQIA+ community growing up and living in rural Appalachia. Following the panelist session, audience members will have the opportunity to participate in small, guided discussion groups.
The safety of our panelists and audience members is paramount. Rules of engagement will be provided and discussed in the opening panel discussion.
This year’s event is hybrid and completely free to attend. Refreshments will be provided free of charge at the in-person venue.
Parking is available at regular rates in the Locust Street Garage: Locust Street Garage | Downtown Knoxville. Please note that you are responsible for any parking costs.
