#UTRMCRoot Cause Analysis (RCA) is a systematic methodology for identifying the root cause of problems. Performing RCA and implementing the mitigation or elimination of issues is at the heart of continuous improvement. This holds true for all parts of the organization (equipment failures requiring maintenance, predictive technology finds operation disruptions, material handling shortages, all assets, processes and products. It enables such things as future problems from recurring, improves safety, reduces breakdowns, rework and scrap, eliminates quality defects, and reduces cost. This includes plant floor, facilities and administrative processes (engineering, purchasing, etc.).
From the RMC you will gain academic RCA knowledge and practical real-world advice from instructors with extensive industrial experience.

Instructor - Dr. Floyd H. (Skipper) Yocum
Dr. Yocum has over 35 years of experience leading companies to achieve World Class Performance in Productivity, Quality and Asset Reliability. Skipper is currently consulting with University of Tennessee’s Reliability and Maintainability Center. Previously as Director of Asset Reliability and Maintenance for Gerdau North America, he transformed operations from reactive to proactive maintenance and a leader in Steel industry using Condition Base Monitoring and Analytics. Prior to joining Gerdau, Skipper was responsible for Global Productivity and North America Quality for Sun Chemical, the world’s largest pigment and ink manufacture. He managed Sun Chemicals’ Global Lean Six Sigma deployment training over 1200 belts/champions in 19 countries and 13 languages. Skipper also was Global Process Control and Manufacturing Systems Director for General Electric Plastics Division and worked for Shell Oil. Contributed to two books, published 6 articles and presented at numerous conferences. Skipper received his BS, MS in Chemical Engineering from Lamar University and his Doctorate in Chemical Engineering from Tulane University.
