One-Day TRADE PUBLISHING Workshop for UT FACULTY

The Denbo Center for Humanities & the Arts is pleased to host a 1-day, in-person workshop led by Clive Priddle and John Ghazvinian from "Scholars to Storytellers," designed to move scholars from academic research projects to commercial publishing. 

*NOTE* This is not a place to market an already written book. The workshop is for scholars who have a book idea or are in the early stages of project planning.  This is also not a fiction or poetry writing seminar: the focus is on nonfiction trade publication. 

John Ghazvinian served as executive director of the Middle East Center at the University of Pennsylvania and is the author of America and Iran: A History, 1720 to the Present (Knopf), a New York Times Notable Book of the Year for 2021, and Untapped: The Scramble for Africa's Oil (Harcourt). He has written for such publications as Newsweek, the New York Times, The Nation and the Washington Post, and has received fellowships from the NEH and the Carnegie Corporation.

Clive Priddle is an editor and publisher who has had senior roles at HarperCollins, the Perseus Books Group, and Hachette, most recently as publisher of the non-fiction imprint PublicAffairs. He has published four Nobel Prizewinning authors and prizewinning writers including Esther Duflo, Kishore Mahbubani, Susan Williams, Ibram X Kendi, Muhammad Yunus, and Stephanie Kelton.

This day-long workshop is FREE and open to UTK faculty of any rank, from any discipline or department on the UT Knoxville campus.

Attendance is capped at 30 registrations.

Lunch is provided.
