Join the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation & Sport Studies for a lecture by Taunya A. Tinsley, Ph.D., D.Min., NCC, LPC and CEO of Transitions Counseling Services on Thursday, November 3 at 6 p.m. in the Student Union Auditorium (SU 180).

This important conversation surrounding mental health and student athletes provides a framework for the creation of a specific model for the holistic development of the athlete population that includes spiritual and mental health counseling. To reach people no one else is reaching, we must do things no one else is doing that includes relating to, and caring for, the sports community by bridging the gap between culture, sports, religion, and wellness. Both the lecture and the model connect theories of human development, psychology, counseling, sports studies, spiritual care, and multicultural sports counseling competencies.
