There are limitations to the modern synthesis that have become apparent as our understanding of evolution and inheritance has grown.  Some of these limitations have been noted in the “extended synthesis”; however, a more comprehensive revision of the modern synthesis is needed.  Here I present an outline of a first effort to provide a comprehensive reformulation of evolutionary theory that addresses some of the issues that have arisen as our understanding of evolution has grown.
