We are all the authors of artificial intelligence. We contributed, often unknowingly, our ideas, opinions, knowledge, and experience with every post and interaction we shared with our network. We collectively taught A.I. to see, hear, and speak. In spite of this multitude of input, A.I. remains an opaque black box, and the questions of consciousness and sentience remain looming. Through games, books, and code, this lecture and accompanying body of work explores the absurdity of reverse-engineering the human mind, how collaborative input can create singular output, how contemporary online technology melds the minds of its users, and the nature of the “being” that results from this amalgamation.
