About this Event
The Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy at the University of Tennessee has challenged the Bob Graham Center for Public Service at the University of Florida this fall to a voter competition.
The challenge is to compete over which school can get the most people to complete the voter registration and election reminder process. ALL Members of the VOL NATION are welcome to participate in the competition!
The purpose of the challenge is to ensure that citizens of the Vol Nation and Gator Nation are ready to cast their ballots during the midterm elections in November.
There are three steps to the competition:
All three have to be completed to count for the competition. If you are already registered to vote, you are welcome to sign-up for election reminders, which will count as points toward the competition.
The competition starts on Wednesday, August 24, and ends on Friday, September 23, the day before the Tennessee vs. Florida football game. The winner will be announced on Saturday, September 24.Â
For more information or questions, please email us at volsvote@utk.edu. This is a program of the Vols Vote Coalition, a campus-wide non-partisan voter education and participation initiative.Â
Event Series
This challenge is also part of the University's Fall 2022 Listen. Learn. Lead Week that was inspired by Senator Baker's observation that the key to leadership was to be an "eloquent listener." The week, held each semester, is intended to provide faculty, staff, students, and the public with the opportunity to engage in diverse viewpoints about pressing topics. This semester's theme is "Voting Education & Civic Engagement." The week is from Monday, September 19 to Saturday, September 24. The week is a partnership between the Provost's Office, Division of Student Life, Division of Diversity and Engagement, and the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy.Â
