About this Event
This talk begins with the acknowledgement that we are all situated within the U.S.'s "Bible Belt," in order to examine the importance of acknowledging LGBTQ+ people and scholarship as necessarily situated and understood within geographic contexts. The talk will include research with teachers, higher education faculty, and K-12 and college students to emphasize the ways that context shapes queer identities and ally work, and the importance of having those considerations be intersectional, in order to be effective, authentic, and meaningful.
