"Voter and Civic Engagement" Tailgate
Drop by the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy before the Tennessee versus Florida Game to have some chicken and biscuits, play cornhole, and learn about upcoming voting and civic engagement opportunities! We want to celebrate the Vols sacking on the Gators, and the Volunteers tackling the challenges our communities face. Come join us in promoting a culture of public service! We will also have volunteers on hand to help you get registered to vote and to ask questions about casting a ballot in November. This event is free and open to the public and is being held in partnership with the Tennessee Secretary of State's Office.
The event is part of the University's Fall 2022 Listen. Learn. Lead Week that was inspired by Senator Baker's observation that the key to leadership was to be an "eloquent listener." The week, held each semester, is intended to provide faculty, staff, students, and the public with the opportunity to engage in diverse viewpoints about pressing topics. This semester's theme is "Voting Education & Civic Engagement." The week is from Monday, September 19 to Saturday, September 24. The week is a partnership between the Provost's Office, Division of Student Life, Division of Diversity and Engagement, and the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy.
This event will be held on Saturday, September 24, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the plaza in front of the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy (1640 Cumberland Avenue, Knoxville, TN).
