In February 2021, NASA’s Perseverance rover landed in Jezero Crater, Mars. But beyond the immediate excitement of successfully landing a rover on a different planet, there is trepidation. The team had spent years deciding that Jezero was the best possible landing site, and the mission was to collect samples of astrobiological interest that will eventually be returned to Earth. Professor Kah will provide an overview of how scientists look at Mars—both prior to and after landing—and what they have learned in the first two years of the mission.
