Course Outline, Expectations, & Packing List
This course is pre-approved by such organizations as the American Camping Association, the United States Forest Service, and other governmental agencies.
This Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course will help you prepare for the unexpected. This fast-paced, hands-on training is designed to meet the needs of trip leaders, camp staff, outdoor enthusiasts and individuals working in remote locations. It will introduce you to caring for people who become ill or injured far from definitive medical care. Classroom lectures and demonstrations are combined with realistic scenarios where mock patients will challenge you to integrate your learning. At the end of the course, you’ll have the knowledge, skills, and ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations.
This WFA is taught by seasoned instructors in a two-day format over 1 weekend. You’ll be in the classroom (no lectures, no boring Powerpoints, all hands on teaching) and outside for more full-on training regardless of weather conditions. Come prepared for wet, muddy, cold or hot environments.

About
About Landmark Learning
We believe:
ACCREDITATION
WHAT IS ACCREDITATION?
Accreditation is a process that ensures educational practices are acceptable, typically meaning that they are competent to qualify students, behave ethically and employ suitable quality assurance throughout all school departments and functions.
Landmark initiated its accreditation process in 2011 by selecting the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET) as its accrediting body. They fit what we do and we were seeking national accreditation and recognition as a school of higher education by the US Department of Education. In all, we were seeking to provide better services to our global student body.
About Wilderness Medical Institute
WMI was founded by Melissa Gray and Buck Tilton in 1990. Shortly after incorporating in Pitkin, Colo., WMI ran its first Wilderness EMT course in Gunnison, Colo. From its small beginning, 83 students in three courses in 1990, to its current breadth of operating in 40 states and 20 countries, WMI has remained focused on its mission to provide the highest quality education and information for the recognition, treatment, and prevention of wilderness emergencies. We believe when students leave our courses they are empowered to act with confidence in emergency situations.
