Winter brings more birds to our backyards. Many of us have House Finches at our feeders year-round. In the winter, the House Finch is joined by a second “reddish finch,” the northern Purple Finch who spends the cold weather months in East Tennessee. How do you tell the two apart? Join UT Arboretum Education Coordinator, Michelle Campanis, and naturalist, author, and artist Stephen Lyn Bales via Zoom for ” Winter Songbirds in East Tennessee,” a virtual presentation on Thursday, January 4th at 7 pm.

Stephen Lyn be talking about the two red finch species and their field markings. He will also discuss creepers, sapsuckers, kinglets, Hermit Thrushes, winter wrens and many more!

The January First Thursday Nature Supper Club presentation is hosted by the UT Arboretum Society. The program is free, but registration is required to receive your Zoom link and the recording. Please contact Michelle at mcampani@utk.edu for any questions or registration issues.
