Abstract
India’s contributions to human development have been lost in the annals of history. Its riches were taken away during colonialism. The last millennium was hard on its citizenry, but modern India is emerging fast. Bringing along, the lost culture, scientific excellence and most importantly highest values humanity has ever held in its past. Dharma, Kama, Artha and Moksha are the basis of living for every Indian, which refer to duty, pleasure, wealth and salvation. A lifestyle which provides holistic attributes and a balance even in today's modern society. India was the wealthiest region in the world prior to the 9th century, and is also well-known for its spirituality. How did it achieve this pinnacle a millennium ago? What role did science, mathematics, politics, education, and ethics play in its rise? And how is India preparing itself to regain that position and spread happiness around the world? We will discuss the path towards enlightenment that India has embarked on, and the wealth of Indian Knowledge Systems from its 25,000+ year old existence on this planet.
